Brief History of Reiki: It was developed in Japan by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. Chujiro Hayashi, a retired naval captain and physician trained as a Reiki master under Usui, who continued to develop Reiki teachings following the death of Usui. One of his students was Hawayo Takata, a Hawaiian who would go on to introduce Reiki to the Western world.
